Interview with Joannes Rhino, Author of The Unseen Face

Hello,

Today’s interview is with Joannes Rhino, author of The Unseen Face.

Please see it below.

Thank you,

-Vincent Lowry

Interview:

1) What is your author name and in what state do you live (or country if not in the US)?
Joannes Rhino. I live in Bali, Indonesia.

2) What is the title of your newest book and what is the genre?
The Unseen Face. It’s a drama-psychology/suspense semi-fiction novel.

3) What is the book about?
The Unseen Face is about memory loss, facing the demons of the past and questioning everything.

4) Where did you come up with the idea?
The Unseen Face is actually based on my close mate’s testimony about his disease. He had struggled with mental disorders since the loss of his loved ones. His story was very triggering for me to come up with The Unseen Face. However, it also elicited a lot of unexpected responses, negative or positive. For that reason, and to protect my friend’s personal life, I decided to twist up some of the facts. The content of The Unseen Face, however, is 80% based on actual event.

5) How long did it take you to write it?
Honestly speaking, the writing process didn’t take that long. No more than 6 months I got it done, roughly. However, the research and editing process took a lot of time, money and efforts.

6) Did you learn anything from the project?
The key word of the spiritual message in The Unseen Face is forgiveness. We have to remember that everything is giving by purpose. Hatred and revenge are not the best friends in our spiritual journey. Non ability to deal with negativity is leading to serious crimes, psycho problems, crumpled life and as an end result – wrong direction and wrong Spiritual Choices.

7) Do you have an author website and/or blog? How about a book video?
I don’t have the time to do that, yet.

8) Do you have any success tips to pass on to fellow authors? How about any great editors/cover artists?
Be yourself! Write only with your own writing style, not others. There is no bad writing. There’s just that, writing. Everyone has own style! Don’t be afraid to share what’s inside your head.

9) What genres do you like to read? Are you open to reading new authors and reviewing their work?
I love writing and reading psychology/thriller/suspense because when it comes to someone’s psychology, it’s amazing what I discover. There are a lot of things to discuss and share. Yeah, I am open to reading other’s works.

10) What is your favorite book of all time and why?
Paulo Coelho with “The Alchemist” and a motivational book by Rhonda Byrne “The Secret”. Those books really changed my perspective about life.

11) Fun Question: Do you have any pets? If so, what kind?
I have a Labrador, Rottweiler and German Shepherd.

12) Fun Question 2: Do you own an electronic reading device? If so, what kind and how do you like it?
I’m an old-fashioned person. I still prefer books on hand.

Interview with the Author of We Shall Be One

Author interview: Hector Fenwick

1) What is your author name?-My pen name is Hector Fenwick

2) What is the title of your newest book and what is the genre?-‘We Shall Be One’ is a paranormal mystery novel.

3) What is the book about?
-Marcus is a teenage boy with amnesia and a disfigured face. He is found nude on a skerry without anyone knowing who he is. Marcus falls in love with Alexia, a teenage, immensely wealthy heir. However, those events are just the introduction to a vortex of twists and mysteries. I know the book doesn’t seem very interesting, judging from what I have told you so far. I wish there was a way to make you realize what a masterpiece it is without spoiling the plot, but there is not. Just trust me, buy it and give it a few chapters. Also, never spoil the plot of this paranormal feast that nobody must miss.

4) Where did you come up with the idea?-I dreamt of a part of the plot. Another part was inspired by a special ability an anime character has, but I cannot tell you what ability, because I would spoil the plot.

5) How long did it take you to write it?-Two months.

6) Did you learn anything from the project?-That I’m all alone in this.

7) Do you have an author website and/or blog? -Here is my blog. https://historystories123.blogspot.com/

8) What genres do you like to read? Are you open to reading new authors and reviewing their work?-I have read books of practically all genres. I’m open to reviewing as long as it’s not on Amazon, because, to post reviews on Amazon, one has to spend at least 50 dollars on Amazon products, which is 50 fewer dollars than I have spent so far!

10) What is your favorite book of all time and why?
-May I select one I have written? If I cannot, I choose ‘By His Bootstraps’. The time travel trope handled in a masterful way.

Interview with Richard Messinger, Author of The Man with the Jagged Red Scar

Hello,

Today’s interview is with Richard Messinger, author of The Man with the Jagged Red Scar.

Please enjoy!

Best,

-Vincent Lowry

Interview:

1.Author Name and Location:

Richard Messinger / Long Island New York, Palm Beach County Florida

2.Title of Book:

The Man With The Jagged Red Scar, Historical thriller/bio-fiction

3.What is the book about?

It’s not every day that a Nazi U-Boat surfaces off the coast of Long Island as it does in this historical work of bio-fiction. Follow the saga of an illustrious legal family as they encounter escaped Nazis living in post WWII America. From the Nuremberg Trials to the Warren Commission, from Giverny and Paris to the darkest days of the death camps of Nazi Germany to peace and calm of the East End of Long Island that is shattered when a small band of Nazi saboteurs land on the shores of Amagansett in 1942 taking the reader on a roller coaster ride as the story of “The Man With The Jagged Red Scar” enfolds.
Based on the true story known as the Amagansett Incident of 1942, the only time in American History that an enemy force actually succeeded in landing on our shores, Forrest and Ellie Mills confront escaped Nazis from Nuremberg Prison living side by side with them in the “cottages” that dot the coast of the Hamptons as well as on the Upper West Side of Manhattan including a crazed Nazi Psychiatrist, who after having facial reconstruction, ends up treating a young Lee Harvey Oswald in NYC in the mid 1950’s. Several other story lines all converge during the July 4, 1942 Independence Day Celebration and Regatta at the Mills family compound, when the U-Boat surfaces and rams the Esmeralda, the family’s schooner, creating untold havoc and panic for years to come.

4. Where did you come up with the story?

Having had a military history in our family over several generations including my dad, a WWII gunner in the Army Air Corp who was shot down by the Nazis over Northern Italy, saved by local partisans and then spending years in VA Hospitals, coupled with losing many family members to the ravages of Nazi Concentration Camps probably percolated in my head as I wrote the book over several years.

5. How long did it take you to write it?

3-4 years. I am currently working on a sequel or book 2 of THE CRYING KANGLING OF GOD series. By the way, a Kangling is an ancient Tibetan instrument made from a human femur and plays a pivotal part of another storyline in The Man With The Jagged Red Scar. More specifically, Adolph Hitler, or Adi, as he is described in the book had sent Himmler, his Vice-Fuhrer to Tibet in the late 1930’s in search of the perfect Kangling, which ends up serving as a “death” symbol throughout the book.

6. Did you learn anything from the project?

Having grown upon the 1950’s reading THE GREAT BOOKS OF THE WESTERN WORLD, I didn’t think that after having completed the book that I would be so enamored with the world of the Far East including it’s history and religious thought. Also, perseverance.

7. What is your website:

Web-site under development…THEMANWITHTHEJAGGEDREDSCAR.COM. Also active, Twitter:The Man With The Jagged Red Scar and Face Book page under same name.

8. What advice do you have for authors?

Keep reading. Maintain detailed note file.

9. What genre do you like to read?

I read everything. FIction/non fiction, thrillers, biographies, science fiction, mythology, religion, natural history and art.

10. What is your favorite book?

I don’t have a favorite book. However, I am currently re-reading THE HARE WITH AMBER EYES by Edmund De Waal. A tremendous complex work that uses a certain Japanese object, the Netsuke, or “prop” as a story telling device. In my novel, I used several literary props, including the Kangling, the missing fragments of the Bayeux Tapestry, and a Michel Bouvier Vitrine as mechanisms or props to carry the reader through several centuries of European and American history.

11. Do you have any pets?

I am a dog person. We have had many dogs over 45 years of marriage. Now that we split our time between Florida and Long island we no longer have a dog. But if I could I would like either a Wheaten Terrier or a Bouncin’ Bearded Collie.

12. Do own an e-device for reading?

Everything Apple/imac/ipads/macbookairiphones -my book is on APPLEBOOKS

Interview with Adam Jordan, Author of Imposition (Book 1), and Rupture (Book 2)

Good morning,

Today’s interview is with Adam Jordan, author of Imposition (Book 1) and Rupture (Book 2 – shown above).

Please enjoy!

Best,

Vincent Lowry

Interview:

1) What is your author name and in what state do you live (or country if not in the US)?

  • My name is Adam Jordan and I live in California.

2) What is the title of your newest book and what is the genre?

  • Series: No Man’s World (Post-apocalyptic, Sci fi)
    • Book I – Imposition
    • Book II – Rupture

3) What is the book about?

  • Premise: A ravaged Earth, eleven years into the apocalypse. Civilization collapsed after humanity’s encounter with another people from across the stars. These aliens had lost their world as well, and were left lost and stranded in the deep black of space, until they found Earth. As the world’s governments argued and fought over access to this stranded fleet, they destroyed themselves. Left with a planet on the verge of death, the alien species terraformed its face, cleansing the rot and radiation. A new world was given life; primal, beautiful, and dangerous. The remnants of humanity emerge from the shadows, without the shield of society. What will become of them?
  • Book I: A small group ventures out in search for their lost friend, and find themselves caught between two ruthless factions.
  • Book II: When a young warlord’s beast escapes, he heads off into new territory. On his search, he stumbles upon a city and discovers the world is much larger than he thought.

4) Where did you come up with the idea?

  • It started off with a character, then a scene, and it blossomed into this insane world. It is an amalgamation of inspiration, from my life, and the stories I knew and loved.

5) How long did it take you to write it?

  • The first book took me six years, and the sequel was another two.

6) Did you learn anything from the project?

  • These being my first published works, I learned a lot about the process; how to go from idea to finished product. It requires a lot of patience and focus.

7) Do you have an author website and/or blog? How about a book video?

8) Do you have any success tips to pass on to fellow authors? How about any great editors/cover artists?

  • Maybe I’ll have some more at that point. I would encourage other authors not to compromise with your story. If an editor points out a plot hole, it is good to listen and see how to fix it, but if anyone demands fundamental change to your original idea, I would strongly urge to resist. In the end it is your story.
  • My editor, Courtney Andersson and my cover artist, Jeff Brown (brand = Jeff Brown Graphics) are incredibly talented and professional, and I would encourage authors on the look to reach out to them via Reedsy.

9) What genres do you like to read? Are you open to reading new authors and reviewing their work?

  • I like sci fi, fantasy, survival, and post-apocalyptic stories. I don’t like forcing myself to read, and tend to spend a long time on one book that I find interesting, almost savoring it.

10) What is your favorite book of all time and why?

  • My favorite books are the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and Kenneth Oppel’s Dark Wing. You cannot go wrong with Tolkien’s legendary work. They have everything, incredibly compelling characters, a vast world that felt constantly built upon, and an overall unforgettable journey.
  • Dark Wing is probably the most fascinating book I’ve read to date; in a setting rarely seen in any medium, a world where dinosaurs are dying, and mammals are taking their first steps toward domination. I read Oppel’s Silverwing trilogy as a kid and fell in love with his world of superstitious bats, rats, and birds. I was blown away with their anthropomorphic cultures and conflicts. Dark Wing, the series’ prequel, brought it down to a more primeval level. The brutality, as well as the heartwarming moments were unforgettable.

11) Fun Question: Do you have any pets? If so, what kind?

  • I have a cat. She is black and brown, and striped. Her name is Princess Bubblegum, or either Peebs or PB for short. She is named after my favorite character in the cartoon show, Adventure Time.

12) Fun Question 2: Do you own an electronic reading device? If so, what kind and how do you like it?

  • I sadly do not, as of yet.
